Emerald
Publishers was founded in the year 1982, by the father of the
present CEO, who was till then Southern Regional Head at Blackie
& Sons. Emerald Publishers initially published books pertaining
to English Literature. Over the years, it has specialized in
English Language Teaching, with publications in Mathematics and
also General books, apart from English Literature.
Emerald Publishers, a Chennai based English-books publishing
firm is arriving at its twenty-fifth year of publishing. In the
last 24 years, we have published more than 400 titles of which
nearly 150 titles are active. |
We have published books on several subjects, our primary area
of specialisation being ELT books, English textbooks and
English Literature books, Mathematics books and books on
Competitive Exams. Academicians drawn from diverse
institutions in India in cluding Central Institute of
English & Foreign Languages, Hyderabad, State Institute of
English, Chennai & Thiruvananthapuram have authored our
books. Emerald’s books have been widely used by universities
all over the country.
As we have a rapidly intensifying audience for general books,
Emerald Publishers during the last 3 years has focused on
titles of broad interest. More so in the areas of language
learning, self-enrichment and personality development. These
books are designed to focus on development of soft skills
and communication skills in students and young executives.
In this silver jubilee year we are releasing 25 books in
these areas.
During the last two years, we have entered into agreements
with several authors & publishers in Australia (Finch
Publishing), United Kingdom (Polish Scientific Publishers),
USA (John Hopkins University Press) and Singapore (Asia Pac
Books) to republish their works for the Indian readers.
We have also taken up the Emerald Great Indian Series -

Eminent academicians
and scholars from universities across the country have compiled
these books. The first of the series, The Great Social Scientist of
India has already been published.
We have entered into a strategic alliance with M/s Guangdong
Provincial Publishing Group, China for co-publishing, translation,
identifying writers, and sharing knowledge
Since the readability of Tamil books has been increasing steadily, a
separate division has been set-up to bring out books in Tamil. This
provides scope for Tamil writers across continents to have their
books published through Emerald Publishers, which has a extensive
distribution network, in Tamil speaking areas. The first of the
book, Compendium on the Culture of the Tamils in two volumes,
authored by an erudite scholar from Malaysia, has been already
published. We also intend to translate works authored by
internationally acclaimed writers into Tamil.
